I use a seperate adapter to connect my MiSTer to JAMMA via the VGA, which was powering the MiSTer. This breakout works great (even with my adapter) but the MiSTer can no longer receive power through VGA, so I had to reintroduce a seperate power cord (no big deal). Works flawlessly and laglessly as best as I can tell.
I did not make any modifications to my .ini file and it worked immediately with my 3rd party Guncon 2.

Excellent, sturdy cable that covers all my personal crt video options. If you're using this for your mister like me, make sure to pay attention to the guide (misteraddons.com/pages/guide) to correctly modify the mister ini file for video output and the de-10 board switches for audio output. Do that, and you'll be cruising!

If you don't have a Checkmate monitor, it also works well. But my use was more niche, installing it inside a monitor 'pod' with pre-defined cutouts and fitting measurements - millimeter variance could present issues. However, I replaced my analog IO board with the IO Direct and everything fit perfectly once I installed in the middle pod (I'd recommend that if you have any USB hub, DE10-nano and IO board). The support was fantastic as well - before ordering I had multiple questions and I got quick answers. There was no tone, no shortcuts - just really friendly and helpful. Very appreciated.
Took me awhile to bite on using original controllers but I finally made a project out of disassembling, cleaning, and restoring all of them and I’m very glad I did! I preferred this device to using SNAC ports since I’m content using a Saturn controller for Genesis and 3DO, a NES controller for PC Engine and Master System, etc… if there’s any input lag, I certainly can’t detect it!
