What's new in V2.X:

  • 24-Bit Video Output: The new version supports 24-bit color video, enhancing the visual experience with richer and more accurate colors compared to its predecessor. PSX, Saturn, and N64 cores currently benefit from this upgrade!
  • Enhanced Control Interface: Updated controls that support 8 buttons per player, catering to a wider range of arcade games, including those requiring more complex input schemes (Saturn, PSX, and N64). Buttons 7 and 8 are accessible on the Joystick 20 pin header for each player.
  • Improved Coin Counter Circuit: The coin counter circuit has been optimized for better reliability and accuracy, ensuring precise tracking of in-game credits.
  • Integrated Breakout Headers: The MiSTercade Versus and joystick harness breakout headers are now combined into a single, streamlined board, simplifying the setup process and reducing clutter inside the arcade cabinet.
  • HDMI DAC with Dual SDRAM Support: By utilizing an HDMI DAC, the MiSTerCade V2 can run cores that require or will require two SDRAM modules. This feature currently supports games like Smash TV and Total Carnage, with potential for future core expansions.
  • Improved bottom plate: Features a cut-out for easy micro SD card access! It's a simple, yet important, improvement.
  • Aluminum top plate: Now, even more rugged.
  • JAMMA Video improvements: All improvements to MiSTercade V2.0 are implemented in V2.1.

Features

  • Controls: Powered by the incredible GP2040-CE firmware, with average latency of just 0.8ms! Supports 8 buttons per player, and extensive configuration via the Web Configurator!
  • Configuration: One device, two configurations.
    • Single SDRAM with HDMI and analog simultaneous output (using "IO DAC" module in the form of an SDRAM - still in development)
    • Dual SDRAM with analog or HDMI output (HDMI jumper feeds direct video into MiSTercade)
  • Video: Accurate, 24-bit dual/triple video output.
    • 0.7Vpp RGB via the HD15 port
    • Full range, adjustable, 3.3V video output (same level as Neo-Geo MV1C) via the JAMMA edge
    • HDMI - used for capture/HD displays (with IO DAC add-on) or can be fed back into MiSTercade's HDMI DAC (dual SDRAM compatible)
  • Audio:
    • 13.5W mono audio amplifier 
    • 3.5mm, line-level stereo audio (Note: some cabinets will need a 3.5mm male to RCA female audio adapter)
    • SPDIF/TOSLINK optical
    • (IO DAC module) Move DE10-nano switch SW0 towards middle of PCB for analog audio, leave it in outer position for SPDIF
  • PCB: White, 4 layer PCB with edge beveled JAMMA connector
  • User I/O port: Useful for SNAC or mt32-pi.
  • 40mm fan
  • Reset, User, OSD buttons: User button serves as in-game reset for most cores.
  • All arcade cores have mappings for MiSTercade
    • Unlike MAME, MiSTer doesn't have a standardize button layout for arcade cores. This means other MiSTer arcade solutions require mapping each game individually. I've done the heavy lifting for you and include an update script (below) to make future mappings just as easy. More than 2,100 mappings and counting!
  • MiSTercade accessories:
    • MiSTercade V2 IO DAC - replace the secondary SDRAM module with this to restore HDMI output
    • MiSTercade Versus (VS) - connect this base MiSTercade unit to multiple cabinets!
    • MiSTercade Remote V1 - control volume, admin buttons, and featuring SNAX for light guns, native controllers, etc.
    • MiSTercade Remote V2 - Same as MiSTercade Remote V1, now with a second SNAC port for 2P NES, SNES, PSX, and an RCA port for GunCon support. Point Blank anyone?

Power Notice

  • MiSTercade V2 uses +5V and +12V power supply rails. Please ensure your +5V rail is below 5.4V.

      Configuration Options

      • Choose between single SDRAM with Direct Video or the SDRAM DAC (sold separately), or dual SDRAM with Direct Video. The DAC Module will allow for normal HDMI output just like MiSTercade V1.

      MiSTer is the most amazing emulation experience ever, with some terrible user experience

      The Good
      The emulation is the most lag-free, butter smooth experience
      JAMMA RGB and controls are fantastic
      Core development is mature and fast

      The Bad
      Instructions on how to build a SD card are mediocre at best (I saved the original SD)
      Managing the UI via JAMMA controls is nearly impossible
      You're pretty much tied to having a keyboard connected to your cabinet
      No good cabinet UI/Attract Mode

      The Ugly
      I waited a few days to even TRY setting it up, because there is no solid central support community of instructions for creating an SD card, choosing the right config files for the V2 kit, or really anything to do with making an SD card ready for boot. I used the wrong Mister.ini (V1 instead of V2) and got no signal to my cabinet. It all required a lot of trial and error because there is no definitive setup guide. The best I could find was to start with the MiSTer Github and navigate the repos to find the ones specific to the V2 and piece the rest together. It wasn't great. I figured "once I get it set up, it's going to be the ultimate cabinet PCB". I wasn't wrong, but I wasn't right, either.

      The real problem is once you do get it booting and games on it, which practically happens FOR YOU. You're beholden to the keyboard to access the menus once you start the first game. There's no exit. I tried holding start, someone said "up+start" and that did nothing. F12 is the only way to go, and I don't have a dedicated F12 button on my CP. There is no practical way to manage this experience from your CP without a keyboard. The best you can do is start a game and play it until you turn the cabinet off, then turn it back on to pick a different game, OR keep a keyboard attached.

      Those games, by the way, are the most unreal level of hardware emulation. Outside of a dedicated SF2 OG PCB, I've never had the game at a disadvantage when playing cheap. The MiSTer JAMMA button experience is almost telepathic.It has to be experienced to believe it, and that extends to practically any game you enjoy--you're going to enjoy it THAT MUCH MORE. Unfortunately, there's a lot of pain in order to get to that experience.

      A full instruction guide is linked near the bottom of the product page. It's very complete and includes setting up a new micro SD card.
      The MiSTercade Remote was designed for situations where the user doesn't want to map a menu button combo to the joystick. You should consider checking it out :)

      The perfect setup for your retro arcade

      Mistercade v2 is flawless. I own a mistercade V1 & two V2 and there is no better way to get easy, accurate replication of all the arcade games you love on your jamma cabinets. I have real arcade PCBs and stacks that get less and less time in the cabinets because it’s too damn convenient to use mistercade. In one setup I have two mistercades in two cabinets, a mistercade versus and a jamma switcher so I can quickly play separate games across on each can or combine them and play the same game across both at the push of a button. It’s amazing!

      Excellent machine, needs a bit of tweaking before sticking it inside a cabinet

      The "-Cade" part of this seems excellent, some good configuration options that should make it easy when I incorporate it into my cabinet.
      Mine arrived assembled (almost too much so: to configure on an HDMI TV I had to remove the HDMI connection between boards and rename Mister_HTMI.INI to replace the default). They've pre-flashed the included 32GB MicroSD RAM with Mr Fusion so you skip to configuring Wifi (or plugging in a network cable) and executing update_all.
      The "tweaking" I mention in my title is with respect to the "MiSTer-" portion of this: configuring whatever controllers you have to work across all games, and how the video is slightly outside the frame for some titles. You'll be tweaking and resetting until you get it like you want before sticking it inside a cabinet. MiSTer is marvelous but not quite ready to go out of the box.

      Is this Mistercade works pluging on the Supergun Jamma for use Neogeo DB15 controllers and CRT TV with component video input?

      Because I already have a Supergun Jamma with DB15 output and Neogeo db15 controllers that also works via Component CRT TV.
