MiSTer doesn't require active cooling. These kits can be left on 24/7 with any core. Core to core temperature variation is minimal.
The case is the heatsink, dissipating internal heat to the exterior.
Analog IO kits output analog video + HDMI simultaneously and can only use a single SDRAM module
Digital IO kits do HDMI or analog video (HDMI2VGA adapter required, like the Reflex Prism) and come with dual SDRAM modules.
The Coin-Ops Collection's Williams Z unit core is currently the only core that uses dual SDRAM. The Saturn core is in beta and has single and dual SDRAM test builds.
All kits can be upgraded to the other IO board by simply replacing the rear panel.

Rest assured the case provides both adequate cooling and protection. The FPGA used by the DE10-nano has a max temp rating (TJmax) of 100C. It's an industrial-class device and this aluminum armor is the best enclosure for it.

I finally purchased a Mister. The entire build works excellently without any noticeable flaws and looks stunning. My build has the analog board, and it was a great choice. It works as well as any of my original hardware (probably better because I didn't have to mod it for HDMI)!
I hummed and hawed for like 2 years before finally commiting to buying the MiSTer because I thought the price was steep (especially for the conversion to my local currency) . Ultimately what made me decide to get was it would be way cheaper than buying rom carts for every console I own. This was one of the best decisions of my gaming life! The portability, ease of use, connect to any display analog or digital, is a dream come true. Imagine having all the retro consoles, arcade machines and PCs in the palm of your hand. I highly recommend this device to any retro gamer lover. Shout out to all the awesome amd amazing developers who made this dream a reality.

I travel for my job, and while having an AP is great I wanted something a bit more robust and that i can connect to the hotel TV. This thing is a Gem, and continues to blow my mind as the build quality is great looks cool and is just fun and super easy to use. If your looking for an FPGA device this is the King baby.
So, I really LOVE my new MiSTer. The console game cores alone are worth it but there's so much more... PC game cores, Arcade cores... it's like heaven for retro gaming. I also really love the build that MiSTer Addons gave me. It's this strong metal case and it is just so solid and beautiful to look at. They shipped it to me right away and sure it was expensive but I think it's a very good deal for what you get... so I don't even think it is expensive actually, it's worth every penny. The amount of things you can do with this thing is incredible. It recognizes every controller or keyboard I throw at it. The compatibility is just amazing. I am so happy MiSTer Addons exists because I didn't wanna go through the headache of setting everything up. This thing is literally plug and play and if you're not super tech literate you can still make this thing work! That said I am finding this thing is DEEP and you can do so much if you want. I highly recommend this for anyone into retro gaming!!!
