Now includes both analog and digital panels!
Extruded aluminum case provides sleek, industrial protection
No fan means no noise or dust
Unlike computers, the MiSTer doesn't require active cooling. It's an industrial device with 100C max temperature rating.
The case is the heatsink, dissipating internal heat to the exterior.
Thousands of these cases are being used all around the world, from Canada to Kuwait, including by developers!
Includes all needed hardware for assembly including buttons!
REQUIRES AN IO BOARD WITH ~4.25MM BUTTONS
WILL NOT WORK WITH IO BOARDS THAT HAVE TALL BUTTONS
REQUIRES A USB HUB WITH DC POWER JACK AND USB BRACKET. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE “C” SHAPED USB BRIDGE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A USB BRACKET, PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE HEADER PINS BEHIND THE MICRO USB PORT. USB BRACKETS ARE AVAILABLE HERE https://misteraddons.com/collections/parts/products/usb-connectors
This thermal image demonstrates the aluminum case's ability to dissipate heat. The yellow areas are the hottest and black is the coolest.
It's normal for case temperatures to reach 40-50C. That's 1/2 the rated temperature of the FPGA :)
These charts show measurements of a small heatsink with no fan (No Case (Heatsink), a traditional case with fan and heatsink, and the aluminum case measured on the top and on the heatsink arm itself.
The aluminum case performs very well and well under the max rated temperature.
I originally ordered the bare stack and replaced the fan with a noctua. Ultimately the hardware was still exposed and wasn’t as appealing as I first thought. I decided to pull the trigger on this case and first thoughts are it’s NICE. Solid aluminum and passive heat sink as well. Putting it together from my bare stack was easy. And best of all I no longer hear a fan because there are none!
The best case for mister bar none. The premium looks and being passive makes it really unique. I had already looked at the installation video prior to receiving the case so already knew what to expect and installation was very easy and fast. I was worried about the case being able to cool the de10 nano, so I then proceeded to do a torture test. I left the psx core running for 4 hours, then switched to the n64 beta for about 3 hours, just left them running some game intros. Then played for 2 hours several arcade games. No issues to report so very happy on that front. The case does run warm to the touch. Not inexpensive but really worth it over other options.
The MiSTer FPGA Aluminum Passively Cooled Case is a sleek and functional accessory that adds a layer of premium protection and efficient cooling to the MiSTer FPGA platform. As an enthusiast who cherishes their MiSTer setup.
Easy to assemble when following the video and grade A quality. Customer service responses were also quick. Highly recommended
Looks and feels really nice. High quality and you get what you paid for. Quiet and warm after a couple hours of use. Great for Winter!
