Reflex Prism - Digital Video to Analog Video Converter
THE FIRST BATCH OF REFLEX PRISM IS HERE! I ordered a small quantity for the first round, as this is a new product. However, I enabled pre-orders for the next batch as a separate variant!
Features:
- Lag free 1:1 digital video to RGB, YPbPr, and S-Video conversion - no resolution (upscale/downscale), or crop/aspect ratio changes from input to output.
-
Reference quality dual, simultaneous video output (Mini-Din 10 simultaneous output requires special devices)
- HD15 (VGA) port:
- RGB or YPbPr (controlled by switch)
- Up to 1920x1200 (matches digital video resolution)
- Use this to convert 240p-1200p digital video to analog video for a high resolution monitor, PC CRT, etc.
- Mini-Din 10) (Sega Saturn) Port:
- RGB and S-video simultaneously
- Composite video is present, but not supported due to dot crawl
-
240p/480i only (~240p/15kHz HDMI special resolution required)
- Supported by MiSTer, but not modern PCs, consoles, etc.
- Most HDMI devices output separate sync (HV) and a minimum of 480p/31kHz so they won’t work with the Mini-Din 10 port.
- Pre-order Prisms will have an internal pin jumper to combine HV sync to composite sync. This should enable support for GCVideo and Raspberry Pi 240p output
- HD15 (VGA) port:
-
HiFi audio output
- Buffered stereo audio for independent/simultaneous 3.5mm and Mini-Din 10 audio output.
- The first batch of Prism requires a slim-profile 3.5mm audio cable with recessed outer jacket to clear the enclosure wall.

-
-
- This is the recommended audio cable (affiliate link): https://amzn.to/3Xk5ngt
-
Includes:
- Reflex Volt unit
- USB-A to USB-C power cable
-
USA USB-A Power supply
- Due to the NTSC encoder used, a clean power supply is required for clean Mini-Din 10 video output. Anker power supplies are also recommended.
- USB A power supply can power the MiSTer, and the MiSTer’s “Power Only” rear USB ports can power Prism.
- International customers: Feel free to use the included power supply with a voltage converter, or explore a quality power supply for your region :)
- Due to the NTSC encoder used, a clean power supply is required for clean Mini-Din 10 video output. Anker power supplies are also recommended.
Configuration:
-
MiSTer FPGA MiSTer.ini 240p/480i configuration:
-
direct_video=1
- direct_video=2 for MiSTer updates beyond 11/9/2025 will automatically work with HDMI displays or Prism without changing direct_video settings
-
vga_mode=rgb
- Prism requires RGB video as the input format. It converts from RGB to YPbPr, and S-Video.
- composite_sync=1
-
direct_video=1
-
MiSTer FPGA MiSTer.ini 480p+ configuration:
- direct_video=0
- vga_mode=rgb
- composite_sync=0 for PC CRTs that don’t support composite sync.
- video_mode=____
Tested Devices:
Geometry or aspect ratio adjustments may be required. No guarantee of compatibility with all of these devices as firmware is always subject to change.

Troubleshooting
What video formats does Prism support?
Prism expects RGB formatted HDMI video and outputs the same resolution as input. Prisms delivered in 2026 include a composite sync combination circuit.
HD15 (VGA): RGBHV or YPbPr (use slide switch to select)
Mini-DIN-10: RGBs and S-Video
Does Prism work with Analogue products?
No. Analogue products require a specific EDID signature that Prism doesn't support.
Can I connect Switch/PS5/Steam Deck to my 240p/15kHz CRT?
No, that requires a downscaler. HDMI minimum resolution is 480p. You can use Prism to connect those consoles to a PC CRT.
Why do I see dot crawl in my composite video signal?
Composite video is not officially supported. It is affected by dot crawl. There's no technical solution to improve the composite video signal.
